God's Eye

She said,

Last night I saw God,

His red eyeball pushed up

Against the window,

Sharp-lined, a Great Eye of Ra.

He winked

And it ate up the window

Ate up the house,

So we were there alone,

And winked again

And the garters of restraining sense fled.

But it ended -- I could only mumble

To myself, in a silence that drizzled.

And I don't even recall the event

As something I actually experienced

It's like I heard a friend summarize

A movie I had never seen.
